She's the Beauty.
He's the Beast.

a dark paranormal romance
For ages 17+ due to violence, language, and some sexuality.

Powerless to silence the voices in her head, Angelina obeys their every command, even if it means ruining her college career, swindling money from her friends, or kidnapping and killing a siren so she can brew a love potion to ensnare the man she's crushed on since childhood.

The Hunter, a man-wolf-hawk chimera, drowns the memories of his murdered family in liquor.  A tracker for hire, an honorable man who has misplaced his honor, a twisted soul with no heart left to care.

…until Angelina hires the Hunter to help her track down a siren and wakes him from his drunken stupor.  What will it take to set them both free?

This is the second book (story 1.5) in the Paranormal Investigations series.  It is highly recommended that they are read in order.

Emma's sister, Angelina must listen to the voices in her head or face their sadistic punishments.  Hunter's torture is in his self-flagellation brought on by the guilt he feels for the murder of his family.  Can these two broken tormented souls face their demons and find the happiness they each deserve?

This is a parallel story to PLAYING HOOKY.  Where PH was light and innocent, BA has a darker, edgier feel that grips you in its talons and will not let go.  In this story, we see the how and why of Angelina's plans to obtain the Siren's blood.

This book is for everyone – we all have our battles against the demons of low self-esteem, or bullies, or regret.  While dark, this story is a reminder that we do not need to battle alone.  Remember: Shared joy is a double joy; shared sorrow is half a sorrow (Swedish proverb).

I absolutely loved this book.  I will have to continue encouraging (stalking/pestering) Mr. & Mrs. Webb to release the next in this series!

Grammar/editing:  B – a few small errors
